If you're visiting this page, then most likely you've visited my website to research eyelash extensions and what services I offer. I thought I would write a blog to guide you through what to expect here at MJR Lashes.
First off, I have a cozy home studio that is private, always clean and very relaxing. You will be provided with a consent form that outlines my policies, procedures and asks relevant information about yourself. After that we will go over your expectations, choices of lash and desired effects.
Once you are comfortable and settled in the heated massage bed, I will wash your eyelids with cleanser in order to make sure there are no oils that will interfere with the adhesive and then secure your lower lashes with comfortable eye pads. Then it is time to relax. I recommend taking a nap (fairly easy for most) or resting quietly. This is to make sure that the eye pads do not move while I am lashing due to facial expressions when you are talking. If they do move too much, they can bump your eye and cause you discomfort after. It is also not wise to attempt to answer your phone or text while having your lashes done. Your eyes need to be closed completely for your own safety or I will have to stop and wait. This will lessen your lash time and the end result will most likely not be what your were expecting. Best to turn off your phone for the hour or set it to silent.
An hour and 45 mins later and you are done! I set your lashes, remove the eye pads and we go over aftercare. Remember to avoid excessive water around your face for 24 hrs. I retail cute pink swim goggles for the clients who forget and other products that will help extend the life of your lashes. Avoid oils in any products you use around the eye area because this will break down the adhesive and affect your retention. That goes for eyeliners, mascara (which you will not need, but some choose to wear for special occasions) and under eye creams. Also after washing your lashes daily and rinsing them, try drying them on the cool setting of a hair dryer and then brushing them with the lash wand I send home with you.
Fills are done on average every 2-3 weeks and take less time than your first visit. Our natural lash cycle is to lose anywhere between 2-5 lashes a day. This means that although you may "retain" extensions for longer than that, in all likelihood you will find that they will not be as full. Keeping your fills at 2-3 weeks makes sure they are always full and beautiful.
Keep in mind that your fill appointments are always a good time to communicate with me and let me know if you would like something changed up or tweaked. I always keep the health of your natural lash first and foremost so if I can do it, I will and vice versa.
I hope that answers any questions you may have had, feel free to message me if you have any not covered.
Till next time!
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
